Hi Everyone!

I got a fun note from Cathy the Community Relations Manager at the Barnes & Noble in East Brunswick, New Jersey.  She's having a Gift Basket of Romance contest and my book AIN'T MISBEHAVING is one of the featured books!  She sent some pictures, and I'm thrilled to be included with these terrific authors.

Here's another picture of the books together on a table.

I'm top row, second book from the left!

Thanks for sharing, Cathy.  The contest runs until the end of the month so if you are in the area check it out!

Home again, Home again, Hippity Hop

I'm home from the RWA conference and I had the best time! I got to accost some of my favorite authors and be a fan girl, and then I got to sign AIN'T MISBEHAVING and talk to readers who'd already read it.  It was the best of both worlds.  I'll post a few pictures.  Our good friend Jan picked us up from the airport and took us for lunch at Laguna Beach.  It was beautiful -dolphins jumping in the waves, cool breezes, great company!

The next day I picked up my registration packet and got my name tag with the SOLD ribbon on the bottom! That night was the BIG booksigning and I got to sit by Julia London. JULIA LONDON! I love her books!!

I'll show more pictures later.  In the meantime, it's good to be home.

Family

My son and granddaughter are here from Ohio so yesterday we had the whole family together - including my daughter and her husband, my other son and his wife and my grandson.  Everyone except my DIL who is traveling for her museum project. She's on her way to Turkey, but we miss her and drank a toast in her name.

Now that the kids are older and busy with their own lives it's a rare a precious thing when I get everyone in the same room.  I'm going to sit back and savor it.

Enjoy your kids!

At Last My Release Day Has Come Along

Sound the trumpets--The big day is here!!

AIN'T MISBEHAVING  by Molly Cannon hits stores today.  Amazon is shipping copies as we speak.  Kindles and Nooks are waking up to find there's a new kid in town.

Yikes, Yahoo, and Yabadabado!!

Thanks to everyone who has supported me in reaching this day.  Friends, family, and the strangers I eavesdropped on when I needed fresh dialogue.  I'd swaddle you all in big bundles of the lightest linen and bounce you on my knee if it was possible.  Since I can't do that I'll just say I'm awfully grateful.

MAWAHHH! (that's a big sloppy kiss in case you couldn't tell)

I'm sure I'll be back with pictures!

I went to Baltimore and all I brought home was this Souvenir

Well, I haven't gone yet, but I'm getting ready to go to Baltimore this weekend with my sister and my daughter and my niece to see my other sister in a play.  Souviner follows the musical career of Florence Foster Jenkins, a wealthy woman who can't carry a tune but still manages to give recitals that become the talk of New York City and eventual holds a sold out concert at Carnegie Hall.

This is a picture of my sister, Sherrionne Brown.  For the record she can sing quite nicely.  But for this performance she bravely has to sing off key.  It's not as easy as it sounds.  And get a look at that dress!  That hair!  The big feather fan! I can't wait! And if you happen to be in the Baltimore area the show is running every weekend during the month of June.  So, if you have a chance, go see it!
By reading my blog one might think I travel a lot. Ohio last month, Baltimore this month, Anaheim next month. But I don't really. Or maybe I do, and I just haven't adjusted my brain to accept this new reality. I will ruminate on that another day.

Stop the Presses! I Just Took a Shower!

In the middle of the day!

We just returned from a short trip to Ohio, and we stayed in a lodge that had a bathtub the size of small canyon. It was glorious to behold. Well, let me tell you, I ran right out, found the nearest drugstore and bought some of those cheap Calgon type take-me-away-english-garden-lavendar-sweet-pea-herbal-spa-in-a-box bath oil beads and soaked for a good long time in the middle of the day for no good reason. And I wasn't even dirty. What a treat.

 Fast forward to today.

I bought a Lee Child novel, The Affair to read on the plane home.  In it he describes these two guys in a truck who are hassling him.

 Fur. Ink. Hair. Dirt. Grease.

I love it.  Five words and you have a complete picture of these men.

While I was reflecting on the economy of Mr. Child’s writing, I suddenly realized I'd been living in the same pajamas for the better part of two and a half days. All the while I was writing a lot and sleeping a little, and eating some more, and writing some more, and then lollygagging a bit, and writing a bit more, too. For two and a half days. Give or take.

 Fur. Ink. Hair. Dirt. Grease.

I’m not saying the description hit too close to home, but…for some reason a shower seemed like a splendid idea.

Ah, now that I smell like rose petals rinsed in sunshine, passion fruit and rainbows, I guess I better get back to work!

Day of the Week Undies

I'm not sure when it happened. I'm not sure when I became a slave to whatever day of the week it happened to be. Take yesterday. It was Wednesday, but Wednesdays aren't just hump day in my house anymore. No, now they're Taco Bueno Wednesdays -- a tradition that started when I ran the local soccer league in an office next to my husband's shop. The office needed to stay open during the noon hour, so he started bringing Taco Bueno over for lunch.  It was close by and who can resist a Mexi Dip?

Anyway, I don't run the soccer office anymore. I haven't for years. I work at home, and my husband comes home for lunch every single day. We eat sandwiches, or leftovers,  or whatever happens to be on hand.  Except on Wednesdays. On that glorious day my husband arrives, fast food bags in hand, and cheers of jubilation fill the air. Taco Bueno day survives! May it ever be so.

So what's the big deal, you might ask?  One day filled with spicy, cheesy goodness is to be celebrated.  And that would be true if it was just the one day.  But it's not.  Now it's my whole week.  Dance Class Monday, Girls Day Tuesday, TacoBueno Wed, Thursday-- thank goodness is still searching for it's own identity, Grand baby Friday, and Hubby Cooks Breakfast Saturday and Sunday.

Obviously, that's not all I do on those days.  I write everyday, too.  But my writing schedule is shaped by those events.  Carefully plotted and planned to fit those parameters. I have always been relaxed, unstructured, and fancy free.  Some might say unorganized, muddled, and flighty. But the point is I laughed at my friends who treated Meat Loaf Monday or Laundry Day Tuesday like a religious observance.  Alas, my weekly routine has turned into a set of those old panties with a different day of the week emblazoned across the front.

Except for Thursdays.  Run, Thursday, Run!  (Shouted in a voice like Richard Harris at the end of Camelot)  And if you're too young to remember Richard Harris and that movie, you probably don't remember Day of the Week undies, either.

Culture, culture, culture

My friend Judi was visiting from Seattle last week, so we went to the Kimbell Museum in Fort Worth to see The Age of Impressionism exhibit visiting from the Clark Museum. Monet, Manet, Picasso, Renoir, Gauguin, Toulouse-Lautrec and more. Even typing their names gives me a thrill. The exhibit will be up through June, so you should treat yourself and go if you get a chance.

Here we are showing off my bag from the gift shop. Even at a museum it's partly about the shopping.

We went to the Amon Carter Museum, too. They were displaying four paintings by John Singer Sargeant. Only four, but I love JSS, so it was worth it. The next day we went to the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas. In addition to the sculpture inside there is an amazing outdoor garden area full of trees and flowers, water features and of course sculpture, too. Such a beautiful peaceful place in the middle of Dallas. And Judi was a good sport about my driving home from Dallas in going home traffic with only one good eye. Thanks for the lovely visit, Judi!

Chapter One of AIN'T MISBEHAVING

My book release is still a few months away, so I thought it was time to gussy up the old website in preparation for the big event. I was thrilled to add the finalized version of the book cover for AIN'T MISBEHAVING and to also include the wonderful quotes given to us by Mariah Stewart and Jill Shalvis. I'm still over the moon about the kind words from these two amazing authors!

Also, as a bonus, if you go to my website and click on the Molly's Book tab on the top menu, you can read the first chapter of AIN'T MISBEHAVING.

Enjoy and thanks for stopping by!

Weekend Adventure

I've been sick as a dog for almost three weeks, but I marked my return to health by having the most marvelous weekend! First, I got up at the crack of dawn and drove myself to Houston, grabbed my sister and niece and headed into the wilds of Houston to meet my agent Kim Lionetti when she finished the confernce she was attending. She was fabulous, down-to-earth, friendly, and funny.

Then we dropped her at her hotel and drove to one of my favorite bookstores in the whole world, Murder By the Book. The beautiful, talented Melissa Bourbon was signing her new release, A Fitting End, the second book in her Magical Mystery Dressmaking series along with three other mystery writers.
After the signing my sister conquered the Houston traffic, and we returned to her house where my lovely brother-in-law was waiting for us with grilled steaks!

I'm home again, but it was a wonderful whirwind of a trip!
